JAZZ is a minimal dining chair designed by Berlin-based studio LOEHR. JAZZ is an off-beat take on the typology of the dining chair. A concentric construction principle sets the stage for a play between formality and freedom. Each of the chair legs takes its own stance depending on position and function – vertically up to hold a backrest or breaking out angled as a front leg. And while the plywood backrest follows a soft curvature, the solid wood cross beams at the center seem almost overly strong proportioned. An ample seat encourages many sitting positions and provides generous elbowroom. The most intriguing characteristic though is the formal difference between the two available models. The standard model has a common leg position, the model with armrests however uses an identical, yet 45-degree-rotated frame. That points one of its legs to the front, giving the JAZZ armchair its iconic silhouette.
