Kawara Armchair is a minimal armchair created by Paris-based designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Koyori. The Kawara Armchair is a unique and charming piece of furniture that is characterized by its use of molded plywood. The backrest, armrest, and seat of the chair are all constructed using three separate molds, which allows for a three-dimensional curvature that is both elegant and comfortable. However, one of the challenges in working with plywood, as with other natural materials, is that it can shrink and warp over time. Despite this, the experienced craftsmen who create the Kawara Armchair have been able to overcome this challenge by carefully predicting and managing the movement of each individual part. This has resulted in a chair that is both beautiful and functional, without the need for additional reinforcement parts.
