For the inaugural edition of the Collaborator Series by bench-made furniture manufacturer Stillmade, Brooklyn-based industrial designer Pat Kim created a set of rotund, sculptural tables. The Kim Coffee Table and Kim Side Table feature organically shaped bases finished in a hand-troweled, lime-based plaster. Sculpted solid wood arms pierce through the bases to support each circular table top. In conjunction with pieces from other emerging creatives like ceramicists Danny Kaplan and Michelle Quan, the Collaborator Series aims to combine each designer’s individual aesthetic with Stillmade’s expert manufacturing capabilities. The initiative will continue to bridge the gap between emerging designers and top of the line furniture production–a partnership historically reserved for established designers and large manufacturers.
