Le Mautu is a minimalist chair created by Mexico City-based practice Studio Naibú. The studio is dedicated to architectural and design projects, blending creativity with practicality. Their creative approach draws from the inherent perfection and imperfection of nature and its phenomena. The studio combines artisanal techniques and processes, deeply influenced by Mexican and Japanese cultural roots. The aim of Calderón de la Barca and Ochoa is to craft unique, timeless pieces. Each creation, much like elements found in nature, gains character and reveals a story through its materiality. The design of this piece emerges from a calculated interaction of irregularities, emphasizing carefully crafted angles and lines. Each element is deliberately arranged to illustrate the tension and dynamics within a purposefully unbalanced system. The thoughtful consideration of every angle and line culminates in a visually engaging structure that challenges and surpasses traditional notions of comfort and stability.
