Mast Chair is a minimal chair designed by London and Singapore-based studio Atelier Pendhapa. Known for their global architecture practice, the firm also has a collectible design collection that was recently shown at ZEBRES in Paris as well as at Sotheby’s during Frieze. Constructed of solid Javanese Teak, Mast is anchored in space by its solid, thick wood. Two basic components—a base and a back—reduce the complex curves of the construction. Each component is thoughtfully created to fulfill its purpose. Their articulation is represented aesthetically as two separate figures. To offer relaxation and a sense of privacy, the round back folds around the body. The Mast chair is available in a range of sizes and seating heights, and comes in an upholstered variation.
