Nadia Chair is a minimalist design created by Japan-based designer Jin Kuramoto Studio. The chair was heavily influenced by traditional carpentry for shipbuilding. The heritage of many woodworking techniques originated from craftsman working on Japanese ships. The designer explains how the island nation is unsurprisingly proficient in the production of maritime innovations. The technique specific to the collection is a method called “kumiki,” which describes the interlocking construction seen in the chairs.
