Pawson Furniture Collection is a minimalist furniture series created by John Pawson for Dinesen. This collection marks the pinnacle of a 30-year collaboration between Dinesen and Pawson. Their relationship began in 1992 when Pawson commissioned Dinesen for his Notting Hill home, using uncut Douglas fir planks for the flooring and creating bespoke furniture from the same wood. This initial project forged a strong partnership, blending Pawson’s minimalist vision with Dinesen’s exceptional craftsmanship. The new Pawson Furniture Collection embodies the Danish concept of “Umage,” meaning to go beyond expectations. This ethos is reflected in the collection’s design, rooted in simplicity and precision. The collection revisits Pawson’s original 1992 designs, including a dining table, bench, and stool, updated with a refined shadow gap detail using Douglas fir and Dinesen oak. Complementing the Dining Series, the Lounge Series introduces new pieces such as a lounge chair, table, sofa, and daybed, all crafted from solid Douglas fir. These pieces are built by skilled cabinet makers in Denmark and upholstered with Kvadrat textiles, maintaining the collection’s high standards of quality and design.
