Segment Stool is a minimalist stool designed by Berlin-based designer DES FRAGMENTS. The stool is constructed from two main components—a seat and a base—that form a segment. Two segments come together to create a stool, and multiple stools can be combined to form a bench. The design showcases a functional openness, with visible rivets highlighting its industrial aesthetic. The interconnected segments evoke an exoskeletal frame, drawing a visual parallel to the chitin shell of arthropods. Despite its industrial roots, the stool’s rounded edges lend it a subtle organic touch while maintaining a compact form. Founded in 2022 by brothers Simon and Jonas Hofmann, des Fragments focuses on creating interior objects and furniture. Each piece is the result of collaborations with selected German craftsmen, blending the Hofmann brothers’ heritage of craftsmanship with a contemporary design approach.
