SQZY Chair is a minimalist chair created by Berlin-based designer Timo Wuchner. SQYZ is a chair that highlights the potential of wood joinery in contemporary furniture. Produced using sustainably sourced ash wood, aluminum, and linseed-oil paint, the chair is constructed without any composite materials. Its assembly requires only a mallet, demonstrating the simplicity and precision of its design. The strength of the SQYZ chair comes from the natural expansion properties of the ash wood. The chair is built by inserting intricately shaped ash pieces into precision-cut aluminum slots, creating a secure connection without the need for screws or adhesives. This innovative approach showcases the material’s inherent characteristics while emphasizing a minimalist and sustainable construction method.
