Stonehenge Ottoman (Part A) is a minimal table designed by Vincent Dubourg for Carpenters Workshop Gallery Los Angeles as part of CHAOS, an exhibition curated by Alexander May of SIZED Studio. The exhibition is a collective display of over 20 esteemed artists, including Ingrid Donat, Sterling Ruby, Vincenzo De Cotiis, Thomas Houseago, Victor Barragán, Suda Kokuta, and Rick Owens. The artists on display represent a range of styles, mediums, and perspectives, thereby offering an expansive exploration of artistic dialogue. The name CHAOS lends itself to the exploration of diverse forms and textures, illustrating the beauty that emerges from imbalance and complexity. It aims to foster a cultural exchange by juxtaposing varying artistic viewpoints through May’s discerning curatorial lens.
The exhibition spans a diverse range of works, featuring the convergence of naturalistic and industrial elements. Materials like moose antler, ceramics, and different types of wood interact with metals like aluminum, bronze, and steel, leading to intriguing contrasts and conversations between these elements. Through May’s monochrome curation, viewers are encouraged to reassess their preconceptions and reconceptualize the perceived meaning of the presented objects. The exhibition initiates an in-depth conversation between the artists, their individual artistic expressions, and the larger cultural milieu. In essence, CHAOS presents a wide-ranging collection of imaginative works that push the boundaries of art, uncovering harmony in what may initially appear chaotic.
