Tras is a minimal chair designed by Berlin-based studio Geckeler Michels. Tras is a furniture family with a striking linear silhouette, highlighting an original blend of steel and massive wood elements. The chair’s stackability and the table trestle’s plug-and-play characteristic suggest a dynamic and nomadic usage for domestic and public spaces. Starting out with the trestle design, the chair came as a natural derivative only after – as a result, the chair turned out to be the confident and more sophisticated sibling, naturally originating from its need to perform in ergonomics. The massive wood parts of the chair appear rather solid and monolithic, yet a closer look reveals smoothly milled surfaces, offering comfort and soft curvature where needed.
