Waste 011 is a minimal side table created by Lancaster-based studio East Otis. East Otis Studio, founded by Emma and Will Haughery, produces furniture that blends practicality with sculptural design, all crafted in their Pennsylvania workshop. Known for their sustainable approach, the studio exclusively sources wood from domestic, ethically managed lumber yards, avoiding the use of exotic or imported materials. Each piece is handmade by their small team, designed to last and evolve with its owners, from early apartment living to permanent homes. Their work ranges from conceptual to functional objects, characterized by simplicity in form, subtle detailing, and a distinct approach to space. The Waste Series, one of East Otis’s notable collections, exemplifies this ethos. It is created using scraps from larger projects, resulting in one-of-a-kind, organic forms.
