45 is a minimalist space located in Singapore, designed by Spacebar Design. Set within an urban landscape, this walk-up apartment stands as a testament to simplicity and authenticity, diverging from the conventional notion of a meticulously curated home. Occupied by a young couple, the space is an ode to the inherent beauty of its construction materials. Central to the apartment’s design is a structural column, left bare, its paint and plaster removed. This raw element integrates seamlessly into the space, akin to an art piece in a gallery. The layout is deliberately minimal, with only necessary walls retained. Dark wood veneer sliding doors are the sole dividers, carving out private spaces from the larger, communal area. The apartment’s flooring and walls are coated in a warm grey microcement, complemented by similarly hued veneer fixtures that subtly catch and reflect light, creating a contrast with the understated base colors. Despite its palette of darker tones, the apartment eschews a formal or rigid ambiance. Instead, it embodies the personal values and lifestyle of its inhabitants, offering a space that is both meaningful and inviting.
