77studio is a minimalist home located in Taichung, Taiwan, designed by Chings Studio. A focal point in the revamped living and dining area is the installation of the DCW editions Aaro light fixture. This adaptable lighting solution is characterized by a spherical joint, allowing for varying adjustments in position, thereby offering diverse illuminating expressions to grace the space. It stands as a pivotal element in the design, orchestrating a harmonious balance between functional lighting and aesthetic appeal. To enhance the functionality and brightness of the culinary space, a reconfiguration was paramount.
Initially hindered by a cramped layout and insufficient natural illumination, the kitchen saw an expansion in its dimensions and an overhaul in the circulation plan. The introduction of a glass door in place of the original wooden one, coupled with an enlargement of the existing window, facilitates a flood of backyard daylight, enlivening the space. In continuity with the home’s overarching theme of natural simplicity, the choice of large, stone-textured tiles for the kitchen floor and walls serves a dual purpose. This material selection not only assures resistance against water and stains, but also introduces a tactile earthiness to the ambiance.
Further enhancing the utility of this area, a specially crafted stone niche adjacent to the sink provides a convenient space for the orderly storage and drainage of kitchen utensils. The innovative incorporation of a metallic shelf allows for the addition of magnetic hooks, presenting a flexible solution for hanging various kitchen accessories as required. Addressing the deficiencies of the previously dim and confined bathroom space, adjustments were instituted to usher in an improved quality of light and spatial perception.
By expanding the window area, a surge of natural light infiltrates the space, simultaneously offering an adaptable mechanism for balancing openness with the desired level of privacy through the use of louvers. To complement the rejuvenated, luminous atmosphere, the inclusion of outdoor potted plants bestows a splash of color against the pristine white backdrop, infusing a calm and pleasurable dimension to daily routines.
