Apartment in Praça dos Aliados is a minimalist apartment located in Lisbon, Portugal, designed by corp arquitetos. The apartment’s layout was revamped with a strategic design that forms a harmonious balance between communal and private areas, cohabitation and solitude, as well as light and shadow. This thoughtful design strategy overturns the existing blueprint of the space, enhancing its livability. Key features of the apartment are carved out through skilled carpentry work, assigning individual functions to each room. The kitchen, designed to be in harmony with the living room, supports a dynamic live-and-dine experience. Meanwhile, the bedroom and office spaces feature built-in closets that deliver ample storage and contribute to their respective identities. These functional installations are considered integral spatial dividers, similar to traditional walls. However, free-standing fixtures also have their place in the scheme, enriching the practicality of the space. Independent cabinetry in the kitchen, a rear cabinet in the living room, and a desk in the office tie the design together. These objects, all crafted in rich walnut, add a touch of warmth to the otherwise neutral spaces.
