Artists Village is a minimalist townhouse located in Berlin, Germany, designed by LINEATUR. The project’s ambition was to craft a living space that not only accommodates creative work but also elevates everyday living to an art form in itself. The renovation of the upper level of a selected townhouse has effectively converted it into a spacious living area that rivals the openness and aesthetic appeal of a loft in New York, thanks to its expansive windows and soaring 4.5-meter ceilings. This transformation was achieved without sacrificing the integrity of the structure’s original design, focusing on a minimalist approach that emphasizes space and light. The choice of materials for the interior was meticulously curated, prioritizing quality and warmth. Wood plays a pivotal role in the design, setting a welcoming tone throughout the space.
Color also plays a crucial part in defining the atmosphere, with a strategic selection of four colors to paint each wall, thereby creating a visually harmonious environment. Functionality and comfort were key considerations in the spatial layout, which is divided into two distinct zones. One area features an open bar, designed to serve as a congenial space for welcoming visitors. The other is a platformed retreat, intended for relaxation and privacy, complete with a fireplace, bespoke furniture, artisanal lighting fixtures, and carefully chosen design elements. This project is a testament to comprehensive design thinking, encompassing conception, preliminary planning, design execution, furniture design, budgeting, detailed planning, site supervision, and styling. The outcome is a space that not only serves as a personal sanctuary for its inhabitants, Tobi and Huli, but also as an inviting venue for social gatherings, encapsulating a sense of intimacy and communal enjoyment.
