Casa Lara is a minimal home located in Madrid, Spain, designed by HANGHAR. The project is understood as system indifferent to its location. Conceptually generic whilst spatially specific, it negates any relationship to perimeter, orientation or prescribed programs. The home is divided into four equal rooms, each measuring 3.5 x 3.5 m, generating a spatial isotropy only disturbed by the appearance of the original fireplace. In response to Madrid’s current real estate bubble, the home distances itself from market driven logics and proposes a flexible system capable of evading prescribed domestic conventions.
