Casa M is a minimalist apartment located in Brooklyn, New York, designed by Studio Atomic. The original attic space, previously hindered by low ceilings, has been ingeniously transformed into a workspace loft. This loft seamlessly connects to the lower living area through the addition of a dual-level bookshelf and desktop perch, defying traditional design norms. An innovative feature is the relocation and addition of skylights and windows, inviting a plethora of light into the living spaces. These changes not only brighten the room but also provide varied vantage points, cleverly expanding the perceived boundaries of the apartment. One of the renovation’s standout features is the “infinity staircase.”

More than a method of vertical transportation, this sculptural piece enhances the sense of height within the living area, adding an artistic touch to its functionality. Additionally, the incorporation of double doors leading to the bedroom and bathroom further amplifies the apartment’s spatial expanse. Within the bedroom, the design continues to optimize space with the inclusion of wall-to-wall closets and a practical wall equipped with integrated cabinets.
