Charenton is a minimal space located in Paris, France, designed by Ubalt. This former 95m2 workshop is built around a private wooded courtyard and has a winter garden. These two specificities dictated the layout of this apartment. The space is cleared to the maximum along the facade while an oak skin is implanted on the periphery of the apartment welcoming the program elements: entrance, two offices, library, kitchen, dressing room and storage in order to push the look outward. The wood through this skin and the parquet, slides towards the facade. At the same time, the exterior seeps into the apartment through the stone-effect tiling and metallic light fixtures along the facade. The coexistence of the inside and the outside within this apartment is thus accentuated by the installation of the materials thus enhancing the initial qualities of the apartment. Finally, a large mirror installed at the back of the library reflecting the courtyard, giving the apartment an additional view outwards.
