Coastal Manor is a minimalist space located in Gdańsk, Poland, designed by Akurat & PB/Studio for Invest Komfort. The estate is artfully secluded from the bustling Tri-City seaside promenade by a charming forest, a natural park adorned with the iconic pine trees that grace the Polish coast. Although direct sea views are not on the menu, the proximity to the water is palpable through the crisp, invigorating air and the lush surroundings. This unique setting on a national scale, along with its favorable microclimate, played a pivotal role in guiding the design process. In their pursuit of homogeneity and coherence, the architects opted for a minimalist approach, stripping away the superfluous and focusing on essential elements.

The design emphasizes open, well-lit spaces adorned with natural materials, each celebrated for its inherent qualities and unadulterated character. Notably, the exposed board-formed concrete construction walls, cast in accordance with their precise specifications, create a striking contrast with the more subdued shapes and textures, resulting in captivating tensions throughout the property. This unwavering commitment to authenticity is evident in the thoughtful layout of the communal pavilion, where different spaces seamlessly flow into one another, ensuring a serene experience and visual harmony.
In their quest to instill an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, a subdued color palette was carefully curated, featuring shades ranging from delicate whites to warm, sandy greys. Hand-applied plaster graces the walls and doors, sandblasted glass adds a touch of sophistication, while whitewashed oak flooring and bespoke furniture exude a dignified yet unobtrusive natural charm. The deliberate avoidance of high contrasts in favor of subtle accents, reminiscent of interior jewelry, creates a sense of understated elegance. Amber-like details, crafted from golden brown resin, can be found throughout the estate, particularly in apartment and floor numbering, serving as a subtle homage to Gdańsk’s historical renown for amber craftsmanship.
