Elle is a minimalist space located in Sydney, Australia, designed by Lot 1. Created for a fashion designer who specializes in evening and bridalwear, the space consolidates the boutique and company headquarters under one roof, where raw, textural details meet a polished color palette and organic forms.
Upon entering the downstairs boutique area, clients are greeted by a buttery almond entry and a custom point-of-sale counter — characterized by raw layers of plaster that are peeled back to reveal natural quartzite stone beneath. Also on this level, a spacious dressing room area featuring curved partitions, complemented by a bouclé sofa and matching curved coffee table, add a sense of softness and sophistication to the space.
Additional organic forms and textured finishes, including micro-cement flooring, champagne-toned glazing, linen curtains, and travertine-plastered walls, create a tactile contrast to the boutique’s ethereal dresses and gowns. Meanwhile, thoughtfully selected lighting enhances the fibers, colors, and intricate details of the garments, ensuring that the space feels as intentional as the collection it showcases.
A sculptural staircase — finished in the same travertine plaster — leads to the upstairs lounge area, offices, and company boardroom. Here, the original trusses are painted in a dark charcoal to contrast again the dropped plaster ceiling and skylights, which pour ample light throughout the back-of-house workspaces.
The overall design of Elle seamlessly blends raw and polished elements to create an elevated, multifunctional space that combines retail, office, and back-of-house operations, delivering a luxurious and cohesive experience that mirrors the elegance of the brand’s sartorial offerings.
