Ferreira Lobo Apartament is a minimalist apartment located in São Paulo, Brazil, designed by Pascali Semerdjian Architects. On the first floor, the layout includes a pantry, living area, and kitchen, while the upper level features a bedroom, bathroom, and a small terrace. These two floors are connected by a carefully crafted wooden staircase, which serves as both a functional element and a design focal point. The staircase integrates seamlessly into the living space, with built-in storage underneath, maximizing every inch of the compact apartment. The custom-designed sofa and bed also reflect this focus on efficient use of space without compromising style. In this project, the design team aimed to create a sense of surprise through unexpected details. The wooden kitchen cabinet, for example, stands out like a hidden gem, contrasting against the minimalist backdrop. Similarly, a niche in the entryway serves as both a practical spot for keys and mail and a subtle indicator of the transition into the personal sanctuary of the home.

Fixed furniture elements, such as the sofa, bar, and side tables, create a cohesive layout while allowing flexibility in their use. The closet, bridging the bedroom and bathroom, is another example of clever design. A custom joinery panel conceals the bathroom entrance, with small circular cutouts providing unique lighting effects. Material choices throughout the apartment play with contrasts, such as the rich, dark tones of imbuia wood paired with playful concrete flooring embedded with shards of green glass. Brass accents, like the bed’s side table handle and the marble bar box, add a refined touch, emphasizing the attention to detail. The apartment, designed for an art collector, also features works by renowned artists including Sandra Gamarra, Keith Haring, and Gonçalo Ivo, enriching the overall ambiance. The small balcony, accessed via a freestanding staircase, introduces natural light into the space and is adorned with a cactus garden, adding another layer of originality to the design.
