Half Tranquil is a minimal home located in Zhongshan, China, designed by Yanta Space Design. The designer embarked on a journey of spatial exploration, unfolding a narrative rooted in natural elements. The use of natural materials is a cornerstone of this project. Through their unique characteristics, colors, and textures, these materials imbue the space with an organic ambiance. The floors, ceilings, and walls are enveloped in stone-plastic flooring and wood veneers, transforming the space into a natural “box.” This approach introduces a sense of warmth to the otherwise stark concrete structure. The walls are coated in a rice-white paint, enhancing the space’s purity and brightness. The design features massive cross-shaped windows that not only offer views of the homeowner’s almond trees but also allow light to filter through the foliage, creating a dance of shadows within. This interplay of light and shadow changes throughout the day, adding a dynamic and elegant quality to the interior.
