Hercules Street is a minimal architectural building located in London, United Kingdom, designed by Parti. Parti have designed a 4-story proposal for a gap-site in Holloway. The small plot has numerous constraints such as ‘rights to light’, ‘overlooking’ and outdoor amenity. The proposal is for two 2-bed maisonettes arranged across split-levels. The design carefully responds to each constraint whilst achieving dynamic, generous, and light-filled spaces within a small plot. The buildings simplicity is brought to life by the composition of its elements, restrained color, and the rich and varied palette of rough, textured and raw materials. Rounded brick piers and simple window openings within deep reveals give the facade a simple and quietly monumental appearance that is full of character; emphasizing the heaviness of traditional brick facades.
