Home L is a minimalist apartment located in Xi’an, China, designed by 7F Design. A small study, initially too cramped to serve the homeowner’s needs, was reimagined into a tea room that became a striking visual element within the home. This transformation was achieved by enveloping the room in dark wooden finishes across the ceiling, walls, and floor, aligning with the homeowner’s desire for a serene space dedicated to relaxation and meditation. The house adapted to the homeowner’s lifestyle in various ways. For instance, the kitchen’s island platform doubled as both a dining area and a makeshift office, reflecting the simplicity of the homeowner’s dietary habits and the need for functional spaces. This choice not only optimized space use but also significantly lowered storage costs by cleverly concealing dining sideboards behind door panels. The sleeping quarters were reconfigured by merging two bedrooms into a more cohesive suite that included a bedroom, a checkroom for storage, and an en-suite bathroom. This layout promoted a seamless transition to rest, featuring an open hanging area for clothing, which was practical for nightly routines and maintained the home’s minimalist ethos.
