House in Shogei is a minimalist home located in Shiga, Japan, designed by Hearth Architects. The north and south portions of the site are surrounded by buildings. As a result, the architects placed main use living spaces on the second floor, as well as a floating space that blends directly into the environment. The designers wanted to make the residents feel as though there were surrounded by greenery, and created an interior courtyard as well as a margin around the perimeter of the home filled with trees and plants.
