J House is a minimalist renovated flat located in Kanagawa, Japan, designed by Domino Architects. The renovation involved a revamped layout into an old Japanese apartment flat. Several simple wooden boxed volumes were inserted throughout the space to create the various rooms. The flat was planned for a young family with a two year-old child. Considering the change of lifestyle due to the child’s growth within a limited floor space, the architect installed corners, blind spots, and niches with box volumes in order to enrich the space.
