L’Aviva Home Mexico City is a minimalist showroom space located in Mexico City, Mexico, designed by . Situated in a modernist building from the mid-1950s, located in La Condesa—one of Mexico City’s most culturally vibrant neighborhoods—the space is as much a personal refuge for Aviva, her friends, and her team, as it is a stage for the display of L’Aviva Home’s collections. Aviva’s approach inverts her typical design process, constructing a living space tailored to enhance her collections, rather than designing products to adapt to various environments. Her connection to Mexico City deepened over several visits, culminating in the discovery of the space that she now calls a second home. The decision to establish a more permanent presence in the city was sparked by her first trip following the pandemic, which reaffirmed her affinity for the locale and its inspirational qualities.

The apartment itself is a testimony to Aviva’s design ethos, blending public and private spaces seamlessly. The layout organically facilitates both separation and integration of living areas, from communal spaces to private bedrooms, thereby serving multiple functions—from a living area to a gallery-like display for her designs. Aviva describes the space as a multipurpose haven, serving as a sanctuary, playground, and workshop, all while fostering creativity for her teams based in New York City and Mexico City. This design philosophy mirrors the integration seen in her NYC studio, emphasizing a seamless blend of life and work that fosters both comfort and creativity.

The aesthetic of the apartment leverages natural materials and colors that resonate with the Mexican environment, incorporating indigenous elements and vibrant hues that depart from L’Aviva Home’s traditionally neutral palette. Attention to detail is evident in the choice of materials, like the verdi alpi marble—an historical nod to the stone used in downtown Mexico City around the turn of the 20th century. This project is profoundly personal for Aviva, encapsulating her evolving design sensibilities and the essence of her professional collaborations and relationships. As with her collections, the space is designed to evolve, continually incorporating new inspirations and partnerships, such as a recent collaboration with a ceramic artist from Guadalajara.
