MERICAN BARBERSHOP is a minimalist space located in Hyogo, Japan, designed by Reiichi Ikeda. The clients requested the space to be as open as possible. As a result, the designers decided to use pillars to separate the space. The interior features an exposed ceiling, revealing the piping and air ducts above – a direct contrast against the simplified floor plan and aesthetic of the salon. The wood material remains consistent throughout the space, and is utilized as a rest for the pillars as well as the reception desk.
