MS7 is a minimalist apartment located in Madrid, Spain, designed by Febrero. The refurbishment began with the removal of all interior elements, leaving only the load-bearing walls intact. This approach allowed for a clean slate to accommodate the new program requirements. The design cleverly integrated the new layout with the existing openings in these sturdy walls, as well as the essential damp cores of the house. A notable feature of the revamped interior is the placement of the kitchen. Positioned centrally, it serves not only as a culinary hub but also as a transitional element, subtly dividing the public and private areas of the house.
This strategic arrangement enhances the flow and functionality of the living space. In an admirable nod to the building’s rich history, the refurbishment team preserved and restored the original moldings and wood windows. This preservation effort ensures that the residence retains its essence and character, seamlessly blending the old with the new. When it comes to the materials and furniture selection, a keen eye for detail was applied. The chosen elements not only breathe new life into the space but also honor its historical significance. This approach ensures that the character of the house is maintained while offering a contemporary living experience.
