Nice is a minimalist apartment located in Marseille, France, designed by Pareil. Situated at the foot of the Endoume quarter and a short walk from the Catalans beach, this project presents a thoughtful redesign of an apartment originally characterized by its closed kitchen that awkwardly divided the living and dining area into an uncomfortable L-shaped space, alongside two bedrooms. The renovation involves the complete demolition of the existing kitchen, replacing it with an open kitchen layout that is more strategically placed. This change allows for a unified living space where bespoke carpentry and masonry work delineate different areas for cooking, dining, and lounging. A significant feature of this redesign is the restoration and emphasis on the three typical Marseille windows that overlook the terrace, enhancing the apartment’s connection to its picturesque surroundings.
