Located in Ostend’s East Bank harbor area, Oever Gallery, designed by 5AM design studio, has opened its doors. This space, devoted to contemporary art, draws inspiration from the city’s urban art scene and its historical ties to Belgium’s capital. The gallery’s interior design seamlessly blends elements of its urban surroundings with modern minimalism.

The central concept of the gallery revolves around transforming the rugged charm of concrete – a nod to Ostend’s architectural character – into an inviting canvas for artistic expression. The monochromatic gray palette, subtly paying homage to the city’s identity, harmoniously merges raw concrete with refined finishes such as brushed aluminum, mirrors, and bold display objects. This interplay of textures creates an alluring backdrop that enhances displayed artworks without overshadowing them. Notably, aquamarine blue accents infuse the space with a signature color. From restrooms to chairs, this hue highlights specific areas, infusing vibrancy into the otherwise understated palette. The open-plan layout, intelligently divided by a freestanding system, offers adaptability and versatility. An array of display elements and backgrounds, available in various sizes and tones, effortlessly adjusts to diverse exhibitions, enriching the gallery’s dynamic character.

Oever Gallery pays tribute to the city’s heritage while fostering modern ingenuity. The convergence of historical inspirations, contemporary design, and urban aesthetics results in a distinctive space that captivates art enthusiasts and curious wanderers alike.
