Private House Zurich is a minimal home located in Zurich, Switzerland, designed by David Chipperfield Architects. The project is an ensemble of three residential buildings. Wide overhanging monopitch roofs accentuate the orientation of the individual buildings and – inspired by the hilly scenery around Lake Zurich – form a roofscape of their own. Together with the roof panes, the vertical wall panes form the tectonic framework of the residential buildings. Room-high air-lux fixed glazing alternates with movable panels, all clad in burnished brass and serve as pivot door and drop window elements: 5 descending window units, 7 large pivot doors, various brass exterior and interior doors and tilt and turn windows.
