A.P.O. undertook the renovation of Pujades, a 1970s industrial building, located in the vibrant Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona, breathing new life into a 125 sqm space that once served as a warehouse. The objective involved creating a tailored studio space to meet the specific needs of its occupants – a photographer and an art director. The essence of this metamorphosis lies in the manipulation of natural light. By embracing the challenge of maximizing natural light, A.P.O. has created an environment where artificial lighting is no longer necessary. Central to this endeavor are two luminous elements: a skylight and a terrace.

The skylight’s strategic placement bathes the studio in radiant light, while the terrace acts as an extension, seamlessly connecting the interior with the outside world. The project’s refinement is enhanced by the material selection. Contrasting textures blend seamlessly, promoting tranquility and creative energy. A modular service element, designed for function and aesthetics, naturally shapes the space, establishing a dedicated kitchen area. This strategy’s foundation is the utilization of natural materials, which adds to the atmosphere’s authenticity. This Barcelona studio’s transformation is proof of A.P.O.’s design prowess and exemplifies how architecture can change space to fuel artistic inspiration and innovation.
