Room in Shinyashiki is a minimal apartment located in Kumamoto, Japan, designed by Yabashi Architects. The space consolidates refined elements with raw materials. The concrete structure is left exposed on the ceiling, leaving construction marks and hardware visible. Polished concrete was used for the flooring with wooden platforms and built-ins to create contrast. A ceiling rail provides a track for lighting along with a moveable curtain serving as a partition to separate the space when needed.
