Rowhouse on Showa-koji St. II is a minimal home located in Kyoto, Japan, designed by YYAA. The project is the second stage renovation of a building that was built in the early Showa period. After peeling off the interior and exterior arranged by the former resident who lived for many years, the expanded room was rebuilt and the garden was restored to the original state. The former Japanese-styled room was converted into a large living room with cedar planks and regenerated into a family-friendly residence. The light that leaks from the east and west openings and the top of the stairs is diffused by the white walls and ceiling, and the interior is filled with a bright atmosphere despite the townhouse with a deep eaves.
