Spiced Coffee Shop is a minimalist cafe by the Paris-based interior architecture practice, Studio Ines Deschodt. Located near La Madeleine in Paris’ 9th arrondissement, the 42-square-meter (452 square feet) coffee shop is conceived as an intimate environment centered on the ritual of drinking coffee. The interior focuses on atmosphere and detail, shaping a space where hospitality and everyday pause become the guiding principles of the design.

The design of the space prioritizes comfort and flow, thanks to rounded corners which soften the geometry of the countertops and bar, allowing movement through the small footprint to feel natural and fluid. Furnishings echo this language through curved forms that introduce a sense of ease. Carefully defined zones structure the experience, from ordering at the bar to settling into the seating area, creating a coherent spatial journey from the entrance inward.

Materiality also reinforces the Spiced’s sensory identity. Textured tiles punctuate seating and ordering areas, while warm wood finishes line the seating counter and are paired with metal stools. In the lounge area, deep spiced red walls and floors complement a wooden bench, mini metal coffee tables, and matching sconces. Matte surfaces and tactile finishes recall the raw character of ground spices, grounding the interior in a palette that is both warm and expressive.

The result is a compact yet atmospheric cafe where texture, color, and form work in cohesion to heighten the coffee experience.
