Y Heights is a minimalist renovation located in Osaka, Japan, designed by Kimura Matsumoto. The project is a rehabilitation of a 20 year old building, and required restructuring without breaking down the core room layouts. The basic layouts were updated using a simple Ravan plywood that corresponded to the various residential forms. The architects selected materials that would not be used in the renovation of existing rental properties, such as irregular self-made concrete slabs of A4 size used for flooring. As a result, the space can be easily updated, promoting a sustainable living environment.
