ZEK is a minimalist apartment located in São Paulo, Brazil, designed by Voa Arquitetura. At the heart of the living and TV room, a sofa designed by emerging Brazilian talent, Guilherme Wetnz, takes center stage. To accommodate a variety of guests, a selection of armchairs from renowned modernist Brazilian designers, including Jean Gillon, Zanine, and Jorge Zalszupin, was carefully chosen. From the Catuaba wooden panels to the linear bench, the bespoke woodworking in this project serves a dual purpose. It not only organizes the space discreetly, concealing essential but practical features, but also imparts comfort and warmth to the environment. The project draws inspiration from the client’s passion for Midcentury Architecture and Brazilian Modernism. Natural materials such as plaster for the walls and ceiling, Brazilian wood, natural stones, and fabrics are thoughtfully incorporated. Throughout the project, the interplay of light and dark creates an inviting atmosphere, where each chosen material serves a deliberate function.
