The Captive Table Lamp is a minimalist table lamp by the Como-based design studio, NAGØT. Part of the Captive collection, a series of lights featuring an encased light source within each fixture’s body, the table lamp stands out with its particularly clean, industrial design. Its box-like fabric shade contrasts with a metal base, while simultaneously complementing it with its sharp lines and metal frame.

Made from a single sheet of stainless steel that has been manipulated into a boxy, rectangular shape, the body of the Captive Table Lamp features vertical tracks cut into its center. These tracks, with their serrated, gear-like contours, allow the light source to move while offering a glimpse into the lamp’s interior. Sitting atop the base is the cotton lamp shade that further diffuses the light into a soft, warm glow.

A simple, exacting design where “Nothing is superfluous, but everything is essential,” as co-founders Mattia Meneghini and Agnese Torres mention, the Captive Table Lamp highlights NAGØT’s ability to combine functionality with aesthetic refinement.
