Caravista is a minimal light designed by Madrid-based architectural practice Maximale. Taking the brick as a starting point, Pablo Delgado and Cristina Garau have transformed one of the most fundamental elements in construction into a lighting object. The lamp, handcrafted locally, consists of two ceramic pieces joined with mortar and a delicate paper filter that diffuses the light as it emanates through the eight openings on each side of the brick.
As the studio’s first foray into product design, Caravista stands out for its modular nature. The brick’s geometry allows for flexible configurations, with variations in the number of openings and colour options. This adaptability results in diverse typologies, including table, wall and portable versions, all of which integrate effortlessly into different interior settings. The name Caravista references a specific type of brick commonly used for unclad façades in architecture, celebrating honest and raw materials. With this design, the firm brings its distinctive architectural approach into a lamp that radiates a warm and playful atmosphere.
