Reel Lamp is a minimal lamp designed by Seoul-based studio Spatial Semiology. A lamp is an object that emits light by converting electrical energy through electric current into light energy. Through the Reel Lamp, Spatial Semiology reveals the electric wire, the component that is an essential accessory to the light but has been hidden as a “part,” as the primary material. The loose wire becomes a hard skin that wraps around the structure, and the transparent skin gently diffuses light. The overall shape was inspired by the Korean traditional ‘Eole,’ a tool for winding threads.
