Cast is a minimalist speaker created by Sydney-based designer Tom Fereday built in collaboration with Tasmanian audiophiles Pitt and Giblin, available at Oigall Projects. The speaker design features a high-frequency driver integrated into a large circular waveguide. This setup utilizes a titanium diaphragm capable of delivering frequencies from 1kHz to 20kHz, ensuring consistent high-frequency coverage throughout the listening area. Behind the high-frequency driver, the speaker houses four 4-inch midrange drivers within a sealed plywood enclosure. The response of these midrange drivers is meticulously managed through Hypex nCore amplifiers and digital signal processing, with their output finely tuned using absorbent materials and precise physical alignment. The main cabinet is designed to accommodate a substantial rear-firing 10-inch subwoofer. This design choice provides the necessary volume for deep, rich bass. Incorporating a 3-way digital amplifier and signal processing module within the stand, the system offers straightforward control and a variety of audio inputs, making it adaptable to any audio setup.
