Beaf is a minimalist restaurant located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, designed by Collectus Studio. The design ethos married contemporary sensibilities with the intrinsic character of the space to forge a harmonious ambiance. This methodical approach prioritized simplicity and coherence, setting a minimalist stage that accentuated the space’s distinguishing attributes. Central to the design philosophy was a commitment to minimalism, realized through a carefully curated selection of materials. The palette was restrained, focusing on neutral, contemporary choices that supported a clear and focused brand identity. A particular material, Polycarbonate, was distinguished as the centerpiece, treated and tinted to enhance the space’s dimly lit environment.
This choice not only harmonized with the overall aesthetic but also became a defining element of the brand’s visual language. The use of Polycarbonate, transformed into backlit linear panels against brushed steel cladding, introduced a play of light and shadow, solid and void, contributing to the space’s dynamic yet understated appeal. The furniture, comprising custom powder-coated steel chairs by Local Industries and complementing brushed steel tables, reinforced the minimalist narrative. The design’s overarching philosophy was rooted in the principles of minimalism. By employing straightforward materials and a subdued color scheme, it crafted an uncluttered, serene environment.
