good neighbor guesthouse is a minimalist boutique hotel located in Baltimore, Maryland, designed by Shawn Chopra of good neighbor. Designed with seven distinct spaces, guesthouse mirrors the sensation of residing in a familiar home. More than just a place to stay, it offers an integrated shopping experience, with its location conveniently atop the good neighbor retail store. Behind the scenes, Chopra marries heritage and contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from Baltimore, Egypt, and India, Chopra crafts spaces reflecting both global landmarks and personal experiences.
The result is a masterful combination of elements reminiscent of iconic structures, realized through the hands of Baltimore artisans using local materials. The brand aims to be more than a store: it seeks to foster a community around art, design, fashion, music, and film. The guesthouse promises a myriad of amenities. Guests can expect oak bed frames, reclaimed floors by Brick & Board, cutting-edge lighting by Audo, and sound systems by Bang & Olufsen. Each room boasts handcrafted countertops, diverse art pieces, and a range of comforts from birch bath accessories to premium cotton linens.
Shawn’s immersion in design began in his youth, a byproduct of his immigrant parents’ habit of rejuvenating old homes. Regular family visits to Chandigarh, India—a city renowned for its inclusive design by the esteemed Le Corbusier—shaped Shawn’s vision, later influencing the establishment of good neighbor in 2019. Co-founded with Anne Morgan, good neighbor represents a blend of design passion and immigrant-rooted hospitality. The brand aims to be more than a store: it seeks to foster a community around art, design, fashion, music, and film.
