Il Florista is a minimal restaurant located in New York City’s Flower District, designed by Elizabeth Roberts Architects. The concept was to create an energetic space in which flowers and herbs would be celebrated, sold, and incorporated into a seasonal menu overseen by Executive Chef, Rae Kramer. Elizabeth Roberts Architects designed and fabricated custom polished bronze panels, zinc and ash tables, and selected the new and vintage furnishings and lighting throughout. A large custom interior window with ribbed glass separates the main space from the 20-seat private dining room, a space which adapts to also accommodate Il Fiorista’s floral workshops. Design collaborators included Leanne Shapton who hand painted the wall murals throughout, which represent abstracted florals and vases.
