boingboing is a minimalist design created by Tokyo-based designers Schemata Architects. The architects rarely deal with “soft” materials in their daily practice, but this time they designed an installation using soft and delicate fabric for the new ZOOM collection of Kinnasand. In this installation, they decided not to “hang” the fabric but make it “stand” on its own as a three-dimensional object. After many experiments, the designers decided to use optical fiber, taking advantage of its transparency, buoyancy and flexibility.
