Inaba House is a minimal residence located in Tottori, Japan, designed by Office of Ryue Nishizawa. Standing tall at a maximum height of 5.7 meters, a distinctive feature of this house is its sharp, 6-inch gable roof—a timeless design that imbues it with both grandeur and simplicity. The subtlety of the exterior design is further enhanced by the use of cedar shingles, each precisely 60mm in width and 15mm in thickness, enveloping the home in a naturally textured facade. Moving inside, the interior design echoes the minimalist ethos of the exterior. The interior walls are uniformly painted in a soft shade of beige, providing a serene backdrop that lets the architectural details take center stage. This neutral canvas harmoniously blends with the minimalist aesthetic, providing a sense of calm and tranquility to the inhabitants. The exception to this uniformity, however, is found within the beauty salon—a space that clearly takes on a personality of its own. Here, one wall is bathed in a vibrant shade of blue, introducing a pop of color that instantly energizes the otherwise subdued environment.
