House in Higashimurayama is a minimalist residence located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by muraie. The architect wanted to design a straightforward home that could adapt to future changes to the space. The planning involved making changes to the space that removed partitions, in instead could expand vertically. There are eight types of ceiling heights and three types of ceiling finishes including the stairwells, exposed wood ceiling, gradient ceiling, and lofted children’s room ceiling.
