Renovation of Kuroishi is a minimalist residence located in Kumamoto, Japan, designed by Yanashi Architects. The home is situated adjacent train tracks, while although noisy at certain times, allows for unobtrusive privacy. The renovation sought to open up the floor plan while leaving structurally integral beams in tact. Split levels were created to clearly delineate the various programs within.
